Hi all! Happy to announce that we have released OpenHands 0.41! We’re still busy writing the release notes so we’ll follow up when those are done, but we do have some major improvements on the research side that I can’t wait to share so I’ll do it now 🙂 Basically we introduced two big improvements: 1. @millions-crayon-32880 has been working on creating a more diverse benchmark, which we called VersaBench: it includes 8 different benchmarks that cover some main areas where we’d like OpenHands to do well a. Improving code bases in many languages, including frontend development b. Creating apps from scratch c. Smoothing the development process through writing tests and fixing failing tests etc d. Doing research of solutions over the web and other sources e. Generally, navigating the workspace through web browsing, communicating with co-workers, etc. 2. @busy-branch-28834 has been working on creating a more versatile agent called OpenHands Versa, which he recently reported in his paper . It added 3 new tools to OpenHands a. A search engine (implemented through the Tavily MCP) b. Multimodal browsing (through BrowserGym) c. Multimodal file access (through the Magentic One) toolbox All of these are implemented in OpenHands 0.41 now, so you can just use them out-of-the-box on the cloud. If you’re running locally, you’ll need to set a Tavily API key, but after that everything should work.

Hey OH developers, I found the radiobuttons in this feedback box a bit confusing. Initially I thought that it was about whether my email address would be shared, but then I selected 'public' (using an alias email address) and concluded that it meant that the chat history would be publically available. That's ok, because there wasn't anything sensitive in it. But I suggest amending this dialog box for clarity. Here's the chat that I gave the thumbs-down to: https://www.all-hands.dev/share?share_id=1a45ceb401febaa2f6b1feba329c215485f6aec6c0bb0924ce4362de44210722 After I got the email update about the increased versatility of OpenHands, I tried to get it to do a non-software development agent task of bulk-transcribing text from some images, but it just seemed to go in circles without producing the output that I wanted. If you like, I suppose I can log an issue in GitHub about the dialog box.

I commissioned OpenHands and Cursor to write some nice shell support (zsh and bash) for more conveniently managing local docker instances of OpenHands in various project directories. It's open source, and Claude claims it's useful. (Lol, I'm only now reading Claude's evaluation beyond its opening conclusion. It's kinda psyched.)

Hello everyone ! Thank you for adding support for Multi-SWE-Bench. I am trying to run inference on it with the latest code from
    main
. Multi-Swe-Bench for Java fails on the
    elastic__logstash_dataset.jsonl
dataset during the docker runtime creation. I was able to run inference successfully on other java subsets. I opened this issue. Any help is appreciated !

Hi all! @wooden-umbrella-84098 has written a blog about the OpenHands journey, some of his core values for All Hands, and how we want to build OpenHands in a sustainable way going forward: https://www.all-hands.dev/blog/walking-the-line-with-commercial-open-source I thought it was really good, and also explains a bit about what we’re thinking for how we walk the line between building open source and keeping the project sustainable as a commercial enterprise, which a lot of people have been asking about. Happy to discuss more!

Hi all! We have made an official release of the OpenHands CLI. It has all the things you like about OpenHands (MIT-licensed, model agnostic, high accuracy), but also: • Is easy to install (no docker, just run
    pip install openhands-ai; openhands
    or
uvx --python 3.12 --from openhands-ai openhands
) • Adds a number of convenient CLI features like slash commands and confirmation mode • Can be used easily in your local dev environment Here are: • Summary on Twitter: https://x.com/allhands_ai/status/1934990437627936949 • Blog: https://www.all-hands.dev/blog/the-openhands-cli-ai-powered-development-in-your-terminal • Docs: https://docs.all-hands.dev/usage/how-to/cli-mode#cli

Hi all! Some may have seen this already, but you can now interact with openhands agents through slack! The method is simple, if you’re on the openhands cloud, in any slack channel, you just write @ OpenHands and the agent will start working based on the context that you provided. You can also post follow-ups on the thread, or jump in to the GUI to work directly with the agent. It interfaces seamlessly with github repos, and you can directly mention which github repo you’d like to work on and it will show you only the ones that match keywords that you mention. Installation is easy if you’re working with the OpenHands cloud, here are the: - Docs: https://docs.all-hands.dev/usage/cloud/slack-installation#slack-integration-beta - Blog: https://www.all-hands.dev/blog/openhands-meets-slack-ai-powered-development-in-your-workspace This is still in Beta, but we’ve been using it a lot and it’s really convenient for little tasks. We’d love your feedback!

Hi everyone! We’re looking to hire a few skilled part-time engineers to help us review and do QA on agent-created code on OpenHands. The jobs would be to: 1. review the code 2. run the code and make sure it works 3. make sure that it completely fixes the problem stated in the issue We will pay according to your experience level. We are open to anyone, but will favor people already from the OpenHands community. If you are interested, please send me your qualifications, availability, and a general idea of the pay level

Hi all! If anyone wants to get started contributing to OpenHands, we just created a bunch of new “good first issues” on improving the CLI experience: https://github.com/All-Hands-AI/OpenHands/issues?q=is%3Aissue%20state%3Aopen%20label%3A%22good%20first%20issue%22 They’d be great ones to practice implementing if you’re just getting started.
