I mostly agree with @Dog compression It's a matter of personal preferences, but I would also advise to start playing around with OpenFOAM while learning basic theory in parallel. Back in the days I was a student I had to go through all the fluid dynamics / CFD theory before getting my hands on a CFD software and I think it would have helped me a lot to connect the dot if I started doing things with CFD sooner
