Energy plus is a building energy model - does good analysis of buildings to get the required air conditioning capacity - relevance to CFD is that it tries to approximate the internal ventilation, but if you have a very large internal volume, or a more complex HVAC setup, sometimes you want to use CFD to supplement the energy plus model
