Also - Open Brush beta had a huge update in the last couple of days - so I'd need to know whether you exported before or after the update. probably best to just update and export again as that's the version we are going to be fixing and supporting

    2022.3.22f1 recommended by Creator Companion

    before, yes. One week ago
  • a
there's a lot of stuff changing at the moment and it might take a couple of weeks to settle down

Does everything look correct inside Unity?

I meant does your scene look correct inside Unity? does it look as you expect before you take it into VR chat?
  • i
Yes, inside the editor I can see my scene correctly.

I just started a new beta version and exported the project. Now I have the newglb folder gone. Only empty glb, fbx with textures and full Obj remained. I didn't change the config file. (meta quest link)
  • a
    DM me the config file
  • i
Well, I exported newglb from the latest version, inserted it into the project, and got a completely different display. The brushes now look like squares until you replace them manually. Before the replacement, they don’t show up in the world in Android. After the replacement, they still don’t. Only a small part of the brushes is visible. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/952724099870892082/1548039525203189870/image.png?ex=6aa59ba7&is=6aa44a27&hm=052f2e16dce25f31994e79168bc45b3f500b0e7c76f07866c6542bdd1c0a8b2a&

Am I correct in understanding that it’s not possible to download these brushes for the world on Android, and I need to manually change the shaders to the standard ones?
  • a
i know very little about vr chat but i can try it out over the weekend and see if i can figure out where it's going wrong. all our brushes should work on android. (after all - open brush runs on android on the quest)
  • a
it would be nice if vrchat helped with this but they've never reached out to us...
  • a
@Smew is the only member of the vrchat community we've had contact with - and he's a volunteer (like us)
  • a
@IrinaStepArt - turns out VR Chat still doesn't support the Unity URP pipeline. It's deprecated now so I dropped support for it. I'll have to think about whether I can spend the time maintaining support for it. If you can ask someone from the VR Chat team to get in touch that would really help. Do you have contact with any of their devs?
  • i
No, I'm new there and I don't know anyone yet.
  • a
I'll see if I can find a workaround - but they have had years to update so I'm surprised they are still stuck on the old renderer.
  • i
Almost all the OB worlds are there for PC. And only one artist I saw has a mobile version with many brushes
  • i
Yes, this is very strange. Perhaps they are already satisfied with everything and they are not interested in changing something
  • l
VRC is changing to unity 6 soonish, but from what I know they are keeping the built-in pipeline...
  • l
Well, they are still officially on unity 2022.3.22f1... and changing the pipeline for the entire user-generated content seems a bit impossible. I think it's still a mystery what they plan to do when unity stops support for built-in (I did read they plan to keep it for at least 2 years for unity 6)

unlit shaders will mostly be ok. but lit shaders are a pain if users have been creating surface shaders in code. they should have been pushing people to use shader graph years ago
  • i
What kind of unload are you talking about?
  • i
By the way, when you tried to upload an object to VRchat, did you have a double image in the headset if you log in from a PC?
  • a
sorry - posted that to the wrong chat!
  • a
I didn't actually get as far as uploading. @Smew might have a better workflow to share with you
