📣 Hi everyone! We’re excited to announce our next webinar hosted by Data Visualization Developer @Robert Kosara on August 20 at 10am PT. There’s a common misconception that building data apps as static sites means you’ll be sacrificing interactivity and expressiveness. But with the right tools and deployment strategy, static site generators like Observable Framework can help you create fast, rich, and interactive data apps that keep data fresh. Join us for a deep dive into what static site generators are, and how they improve data app performance and user experience. Register today: https://streamyard.com/watch/DvVwaeUTqgJG

🎉 New beta feature: Quickly convert your Observable Notebooks into Framework data apps! 🎉 Hi everyone ~ If you’re a notebook user, but haven’t yet taken the leap into Observable Framework to build custom data apps, now is the time! 🚀 We just released our built-in convert command, which converts your public Observable notebooks into Markdown for use in Framework data apps. Create a new Framework project, and run the convert command:
    npm run observable convert <notebook-url>
    or
    yarn observable convert <notebook-url>
Usually, it just takes a few manual tweaks to get your app up-and-running. Check out the convert documentation to learn about limitations, more options (including to convert multiple notebooks at once!), and tips for updating your notebook code for Framework compatibility. And, for a broader overview of how Observable Notebooks and Framework work together, read our latest blog post. Go ahead and give the convert command a try. We’re excited to see how you evolve your notebooks into presentation-ready data apps, and to hear your thoughts and feedback!

Hi everyone! We’re making some changes to our Community Slack to increase the long-term discoverability of your discussions, and to make your feedback more actionable. Starting next week, we are asking you to: • 🔀 Redirect discussions from the #C06KPR8FCE4, #C06EZB298NS and #C05BA8345B8 channels to their Github discussion boards👇 ◦ Observable Plot GitHub discussion board ◦ Observable Framework GitHub discussion board ◦ D3 GitHub discussion board • 🔀 Redirect questions from #C03SEMPUF6F and #C06EZB886J2 to our community forum We will be archiving the #C06KPR8FCE4, #C06EZB298NS, #C05BA8345B8, #C03SEMPUF6F, and #C06EZB886J2 channels on 8/30. Our Community Slack will continue to be a place where the community can connect and share, and where the Observable team can share updates. The changes above will ensure that your valuable discussions, questions, and solutions remain available long term, are more easily discoverable and searchable, and can be tracked better for feature changes. Thank you for helping us to keep your discussions alive!

We’re excited to announce a powerful new capability to Observable Cloud: Embedded Analytics. Data teams can now seamlessly integrate dynamic data visualizations straight from Observable Cloud into existing websites and applications. Developers and product managers across industries want to give their users fast, dynamic, interactive data experiences. The demand for in-app data visualization is growing, as users expect rich insights and seamless integration directly within the tools they already rely on. But that integration has traditionally required costly engineering resources, or heavy lifting to manipulate low-level data visualization libraries that don’t easily scale or adapt to modern data app needs. These traditional methods often mean fetching and processing data in real-time, resulting in slow pages and a less engaging user experience. With Observable’s solution for Embedded Analytics, there’s a faster, smarter way. By leveraging Observable’s ‘baked data’ architecture, reactivity, and polyglot data loaders, organizations can now integrate responsive, high-performance analytics directly into their applications. 👋 Hi everyone! We just launched early access for our newest feature: Observable Canvases. 🎉 Canvases are a new way for teams to visually explore data, run analyses, and build interactive charts and dashboards — all in one visual, collaborative whiteboard in the browser. It’s built for cross-functional workflows where analysts, PMs, and developers work in the same space — using code when it helps, and visual tools when it’s faster. Early access is currently open to data teams, so if that’s you, we’d love to have you try it out. 👉 https://observablehq.com/blog/introducing-canvases-early-access
