So I finally got the Nextflow language server and its autoformatter up and running... It keeps doing big reformats to various parts of the template (e.g.
<http://main.nf|main.nf>
) unless I'm careful to save without autoformatting. Would it be worth attempting to put all the template files through it so that a pipeline does not accidentally diverge too far from the template (making template updates more confusing)?

The stable version is still bugged for comments afaik (fix is in the latest) so probably won't happen in the immediate term
But also template file are not going to parse as valid nextflow (required to be formatted) so it wouldn't work anyway I suspect

Fair point! I'll just be mindful with the save keybind for a while longer...

Yes, you'd have to remove the jinja tags temporarily.

Right, but we will do lint tests that generate a pipeline, run linting, and check if anything breaks. That's what we do for other auto-formatters already. So it will amount to the same thing.

Not all comments are bugged, but some. I think we could probably update the template now if we wanted to. Might be worth looking into if folks feel ready to go that way now 👀
