Hi folks! I’m looking for someone to help with paid editing work for the Nextflow Podcast nextflow bounce 🎙️ (#C04E9USS7M2 / seqera.io/podcasts ) Editing has become the main bottleneck for me getting episodes published, so I’d love to find someone who can take on some or all of the post-production work on a freelance / casual basis. If that sounds interesting, have a look at the thread for more details 👇🧵
Some specifics: I currently record and edit the Nextflow Podcast myself, but the editing is fairly time-consuming and is increasingly the thing stopping me from publishing episodes regularly. The main job would be editing recorded podcast episodes, for example: • taking the raw recording and producing a clean, polished episode • cutting false starts, mistakes, long pauses, interruptions, etc. • fixing the transcribed subtitles for specialist terminology (eg. Nextflow not "next flow", and Seqera shakefist ) • tightening things up where needed, without making the conversation feel over-edited • handling basic audio cleanup / levelling • producing the final files ready for publication on YouTube / Spotify. I currently use Descript for editing, so experience with that would be especially useful, although I’m open to other workflows if you know what you’re doing. There may also be scope to help with some of the surrounding work, like drafting blog posts and creating visuals, if you're interested, but the main thing I need help with is the actual editing. This would be paid work. I don't mind how we structure it (per episode, hourly, etc.) and we can figure out something sensible depending on experience and how much of the process you want to take on. You definitely don’t need to be a Nextflow / bioinformatics expert. Being comfortable editing technical conversations would help, but good judgement around pacing and knowing what to cut versus what to leave in is much more important. If you’re interested, please DM me with a little bit about your experience and, ideally, links to anything you’ve edited before. Recommendations for other people who might be a good fit are very welcome too 🙏 Thanks all!

Hi @Phil Ewels at UpWork, you might find someone in a few minutes. Try that

Thanks @Susan Nasif O-Adorisio! Yes that was my initial thought, we've used UpWork for video editing at Seqera in the past (several years ago now). I was hoping to find someone from the community if possible though, as podcast episodes are long and often very technical, and I think it might help a bit to understand the terminology.
But I'll probably end up there if I don't find anyone this way 😅

Understood. I can find someone from the city here in Southern Italy. People are really good and not expensive. I can volunteer some supervision before final videos returned to you. Shall we try?

That's very kind, thank you @Susan Nasif O-Adorisio! I have a couple of people who have sent me a DM already, plus I need to have a poke around internally to understand how to get all this to happen. I might well get back to you at some point though!

If you're still looking for help, I would be able to help edit the podcast!
