Q: why is the version of nf-schema in the template still 2.5.1 and not 2.7.2 ?

if i remember correctly because 2.7.2 requires nextflow 26.04
are you having problems because of it?

aaah, I missed that dependency !
I was wondering because of the blog post which is essentially advising people to use 2.7.2
1. Bump the minimal Nextflow version of the pipeline to 26.04.0 using 
nf-core pipelines bump-version --nextflow 26.04.0

(not that I had a doubt ! I should have read more carefully)
Sorry to drop this on a Friday afternoon … We found out that nf-schema 2.7.2 does not require Nextflow 26.04 ! registry.nextflow.io/plugins/… So we could use it in the template and make pipelines work with 25.10 and 26.04 out of the box. Here is a PR for review: github.com/nf-core/tools/pull/4463

What about nf-schema versions 2.7.3 and 2.8.0? (I selfishly have something in 2.7.3 I require)
Should've looked at the pull request first -- already uses 2.7.3 🎉

Yep 🙂 2.7.3 because it’s the latest that works on Nextflow 25.10, which is the minimum version advertised in the template. 2.8.0 requires 26.04
