has anyone seen this while running with conda on gitpod yet ? and know how to fix this ?
CondaValueError: You have chosen a non-default solver backend (libmamba) but it was not recognized. Choose one of: classic
FYI it works after this
Copy code
conda update conda --solver=classic
j
I got it yesterday too... It's weird though. Libmamba is default now...
Maybe it has an old version of Fonda?

It shouldn't have an old version. There's nothing on the
dev
or
master
branch that suggest an outdated or incorrectly set `conda`: https://github.com/nf-core/tools/blob/dev/nf_core/gitpod/gitpod.Dockerfile

Ah wait the other thing I remember now is Vonda was always complaining about a missing shared library?
Did you also see that @Sateesh_Peri
?
m
I just tried
conda install mamba
on
nfcore/gitpod:latest
and got no such error. Perhaps a old cached prebuild?
j
Hmm ok, I might try later then if I have a chance
s
try running any test using conda on a fresh gitpod
m
Ah, yeah. I did that the other day and got that message. I thought it was just because the package itself was old.
I'll have another look
It's a difference between the images for sure. The modules repo uses
nfcore/gitpod:dev
j
Ooooh
m
I might have broken something when I removed the defaults channel.
s
we also need to update nf-test=0.9.0 in the gitpod
m
It'll happen automatically when the dev image is rebuilt.
I think I found the issue. I suspect
defaults
is still part of the standard channels to search when doing the initial install, but the
conda clean
then cleans up all the pkg dirs too, removing the necessary lib. Installing
libmamba
fixed it, but I then realised doing
--update-all
also fixed the channels to use their
conda-forge
channel equivalents.
