🚇 nf-metro 1.0.0 is out, in its new home under the Seqera org! It's a whopper: github.com/seqeralabs/…/1.0.0 ✨ First thing you'll notice is a swanky new Astro website built by @Phil Ewels (and tinkered with further by me): seqeralabs.github.io/nf-metro What's new: • 🛠️ Lots of work to make the engine more robust • 🎮 An initial 'playground' for building maps interactively • 📊 The ability to layer live workflow progress over a metro map ⚠️ Layout is still harder than you might think, so if your specific mermaid produces mistakes, let me know via an issue: github.com/seqeralabs/nf-metro/issues. The playground also has a button to submit errors with the mermaid code inline.

very nice! tiniest nit-pick for the logo (might be a rendering issue because it looks like it is off by 1px, but the lines are not centered with respect to the node)
😆 1
j
Ha! I refer you to Chief Designer @Phil Ewels
m
second thing, something seems to be off here with the tabs
and are your sure it should https://seqeralabs.github.io/nf-metro should point to
dev
and not the latest release?
did you change something about the distance between the lines? before they didn't have such a gap (looking at the rnaseq one)
j
That was to make sure Phil's site showed before release, I was debating whether to drop it back to prod or not
Yes, we decided it read better with the gaps, but it could be a param
m
I think they look nicer together (and probably something the godfathers/-mothers of this design already though about and stuck with the combined mode, so I would trust them)
this 1
(the gaped one gives commodore 64 vibes, while the other one has more rainbow apple vibes 😁)
j
subjective I think. But I can definitely make it controllable

for the progress section, does the video have a too low frame-rate or is that a limitation of mermaid to not have a smooth bulb animation?
j
Just me being crappy getting the recording
m
(also the blurryness radius of the bulbs is too wide and too bright imo, makes the whole image look blurry)
j
I've also made the default version of that less kitch than the light bulbs

btw, congrats on your release! I am a big fan of nf-metro 😄
j
k
yey! it looks even better
j
every time someone asks me about a pipeline render I add it to the corpus I check on every PR, so I can be sure things don't break

haha, the css-color-chip plugin is a bit too ambitious here
j
Haha, oh yes. Phil magic also, will try to resolve

I have played extensively in https://github.com/nf-core/seqinspector/pull/225 And I am actually quite pleased with the result
j
It'd probably work better if section 2 went over section 3. Did you try that? Might just need to reorder the lines
👀 1
m
I haven't tried that
Couldn't managed, I'll try to have a look tomorrow
j
But there are a couple of small bugs I'll fix
m
@mashehu helped me find a bug. The svg in light mode seem to have the legend box in light, but when converting to png it is dark.

j
will get that one too!
m
Interesting, the lines get a bit jumbled, but I will try to look into this
j
line order matters right now, this one is a little better: seqeralabs.github.io/nf-metro/…/playground#mmd-gz=…
m
getting there. but the boxes 1, 2 and 4 are not aligned anymore, and the lines in the box 2 are warped
j
yes. Fixing!
m
yeah no worries, I am logging out anyway

m
I'm sold
I'll check with the rest of the team
