Are pipelines always meant to have
Copy code
errorStrategy = { task.exitStatus in ((130..145) + 104 + 175) ? 'retry' : 'finish' }
maxRetries    = 1
maxErrors     = '-1'
in
base.config
? I am working on a pipeline where most runs would have multiple samples in them and it would be more appropriate for the default errorStrategy to be ignore so a single failed sample doesn't terminate the entire run.
p
It's up to you. The safer option is to kill the run (without terminating jobs already in flight) with an error so that any failing samples / processes are noticed.
Failures that are ignored can be very difficult to spot. And can lead to invalid downstream steps in the pipeline.
So it's dependent on you and your pipeline
t
Are your samples completely independent, or do you aggregate some information at the end? If the latter, that would be missing any failed samples, so you might as well kill the run, figure out the problem, fix it, and
-resume
. But if each sample can run on its own, you could run the pipeline separately for each sample, so a failing one could never affect the other ones. (If that would be too many runs, you could run them in small batches, so that only a specific batch needs to be rerun.)
