Hello, I have a basic question concerning the
emit: versions
that disapeared in some subworkflows at least (e.g. fastq_align_bowtie2). How can we still collect the versions of the tools of a subworkflow without using directly the modules and relying on the subworkflows? Is it still possible/recommended?
i
Most (all?) nf-core modules have been converted to use topics instead of regular output channels for versions. Data from topic channels can be collected directly in the main workflow, so there is no reason to have a versions output in subworkflows. If you use the template, everything should work out of the box.

Oh ok. I started with an older template and didn't see this new feature. It's really awesome then 🙂
More info here about this migration 🙂

Thank you!
by the way, Is there a newsletter to get news every time an updgrade occurs in nf core?
j
Heh, @Phil Ewels;)
Major things like this we normally rely on our blog: https://nf-co.re/blog
But we were talking about a sort of newsletter
b
it would be nice to be sure not to miss any major change. But I'll check your blog for now. Thank you.
m
it also has an rss feed if that helps https://nf-co.re/blog/rss.xml

Hoping to get a newsletter up and running soon-ish 🤞🏻

it's on hold right now as I got busy with other stuff, but you can follow along here: https://github.com/nf-core/website/pull/4082
WIP example of what it might look like if anyone is curious: https://deploy-preview-4082--nf-core-main-site.netlify.app/newsletter/2026/02
