The new major Nextflow release coming in April will have strict syntax on by default and this will most likely cause some headaches with the current configs. I've been tinkering with updating some configs and am collecting all my findings in this hackMD document: https://hackmd.io/XnkM-abbSBqh4s3cA27wKA. Feel free to use it as a guide on how to migrate configs and let me know if some cases are still missing in it 🙂

Can you provide linked examples to the speific code of each example, based on the pull requests (rather tahn listing at the bottom). I think some of the examples are a bit abstract
(also the params conversion feels VERY weird)
And I wonder if we could have someone like @Ben Sherman quickly check that the proposed conversion recommendations are good (like I trust you @Nicolas Vannieuwkerke but we don't want to make an accident bad-practise thing not covered by the current strict syntax checks and we have to go change it all again 😅)
But thisi s looking good @Nicolas Vannieuwkerke!

I agree that the params are not ideal, but there is no way to assign a variable anymore so that's the only valid method.
I'll add some links to examples later today, thanks!
Always good to have a second pair of eyes on it but I don't think I'm doing anything that's not allowed
I added some links to github diffs 😛
