I also need to make something work to make the mermaid code from Nextflow, but the subjectivity in it makes it a bit challenging

This is indeed tricky. What I did at some point was to filter from the execution log all the full path process name and filter the subworkflow / process name from it. It gives a broad overwiew of the pipeline but it miss some connection.

So how about adding a “template” mmd file to the pipeline template, so pipeline devs can amend as they build the pipeline 🤔
Perhaps even an auto-render github action?

I’m trying it out in one of our pipelines right now. If it works well I can see this gaining traction very fast

Awesome! It's only a couple of days' old as a project, so maybe we get to v1 where I nobble most of the teething issues. I'm going to put out a new version this morning with some compatibility with the default nextflow mmd
(though it sill won't be much use for complex nf-core structures)
If there's consensus, it should probably move into the nf-core org to make it easier to admin maintainers etc

this was made with the latest version on conda, based on my own pipeline
manually coded and still very much looking into how everything works, but I like it up to now
