Did you guys know that workflow dispatches can have a 'form'? Someone is demoing an automated release procedure and I thought this look very nice
m
Have a look at our sync action on the tolls repo 😉
j
WHY DONT WE HAVE THAT ON PIPELINES?!
m
For which action specifically
j
Releases
m
Ah, you want a release acrion? That is usually more useful if you need to bundle or deploy something, but we can do it. Maybe rfc worthy?
p
Why would we not just do a normal release?
party this 1
n
Yeah a normal release is basically filling out a form already, what would be the advantage of doing it this way?
m
meh, not too impressed by that, agreeing with everyone else here, sorry James
I did like the idea of using semantic-versionning to automate release tags and update changelog: -> cf this commit https://github.com/maxulysse/anf/commit/f2492bbdbb27b7ed9ababf2a147faee0e128614c
but I'd say there are still things that needs ironing
j
Haha don't worry, maybe I didn't think it through. I just hadn't seen it before. > Yeah a normal release is basically filling out a form already Which form? But I was thinking more about doing the whole version bumping stuff, opening the PR etc.
(also ideally update the CHANGELOG for us, but I know that's a looooong way awya
n
The release page is basically a from where you specify the version of the release (tag)
j
Which release page?
Ah on GitHub
I mean a to start the PR bump-versions stuff
Anyway, doesn't matter, it's very minor 😉
