update on this setup, it’s still wip: - I stopped trying to encode the height as comparator signal strength and instead just have 12 separate lines, because trying to have a dustless self resetting itt demultiplexer at the player platform was a pain (I want to have a nice lamp display at the platform to show the height) if anyone happens to have a convenient circuit for this I’ll consider going back to ss - I got the chunk loading with rail lines and savestates done - problem 1: I originally intended to suppress population after sending a signal back to the platform, so that later leaves don’t cause duplicate outputs, and I designed it to reset all of the redstone components so it was reusable without needing to savestate a long line of chunks. But I failed to realise that the trigger for the measurement has to be player phase if I want to suppress, and I didn’t make the trigger circuit self resetting, so it breaks after one use - problem 2: I am using budded pistons to get the signal from the tree off the eventually suppressed update, and pistons to reset these buds, but I am also using a piston to trigger the measurement because I wanted it to just have one switch, such that turning the lever off resets the lamps and turning it back on triggers a measurement. I believe the piston to trigger the setup is processing before the pistons that reset the buds retract, which causes the signal from the tree not to extend the piston

should probably clarify I am making the setup dustless and with itt on. it should be possible without itt, but determining the correct leaf update is more difficult and I don’t want significant delay before the result appears

There's a new open thread for finding applications of async block updates in 1.21.4: https://discord.com/channels/961702940102504518/963534956565508207/1555590693332713513

I'm told it's possible to get async block updates in 1.21.4 in survival.

OH?

Also, a new video:

what are those kinds of piston extenders really used for

you showed me this once as a challenge - do you remember if I solved it?

Yeah, you figured it out pretty quickly. You called the game "Conway's frogs" instead of using the Wikipedia-approved named "Conway's soldiers".

Not really much. Although in this contraption ( ) there is something similar to a triple piston extender, because you need to push a block in the middle of the obsidian platform within 1 gametick after the obsidian platform was cleared with air. That's the closest thing to an application of these kinds of extenders.

are there good wither based obsidian farms for 1.12.2

i know that you cant regenerate the platform without a player in that version but i am struggling to find a good obsidian farm for that version

I know some people have used nether portals, maybe you could design one of those

@Myren

Hello, for posterity I am in the threadstone discord

@Matthew Bolan can you check dm's real quick?

Just ignoring you

Been busy

The answer to the first question was no and the answer to the second question is that Myren and Earthcomputer know what they're talking about, but I'd have to see exactly what you mean to say anything myself. Don't really have time to rn tho

No prob, that answers everything actually. Tysm

@Myren Sorry to bother you so much, here is the latest version of the End Gateway Locator. End Gateway Locator v2.2.3 End Gateway Dataless: Added an option to display dataless gateways and other indicators on the map. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/961702940102504521/1557987744993517659/EndGateWay_Locator_v2.2.3_ES.jar?ex=6ac9cca8&is=6ac87b28&hm=981c932857eaa989358935ffa974951a133219ee4dc7af902e4f1bbfcde5a902& https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/961702940102504521/1557987745270333500/EndGateWay_Locator_v2.2.3_EN.jar?ex=6ac9cca8&is=6ac87b28&hm=a01ec7330bce5b58ad024c3c9153188cc229327ddf156e7ad29fdcbeb880fa73&

Maybe put it on github or something so we can just send that and you can update it there

what are the dataless gateways on the map?

you're right

Also, instead of having two jars for english and spanish, i think you should add a language setting. If you put the code on github people can contribute translation for other languages too. I can do a Japanese translation if you want

😮 That's a good idea; I'll see about doing it.

Using a mechanism explained in Myren's video HyperLink, you can strip the coordinate data from an End gateway; for example, if you are at the 29-million mark and enter that data-stripped gateway, you will appear at coordinates 1k, 1k in the End, and that gateway will then link to the 29-million location.

yeah i thought that was what the map was showing originally..?

In the previous version, it simply shows one at random.
