04/05/2026, 12:25 PMfalse_interruption_timeout for the shown TurnHandlingOptions.
Interruption behavior with your settings
• Turn detection uses MultilingualModel() to decide when a user or agent finishes speaking.
• The agent allows barge‑in (it listens while speaking). If voice activity is detected during agent playback, the system checks whether that audio contains a meaningful transcript or is just noise/backchanneling.
• You set "resume_false_interruption": False, so if the system classifies the event as a false interruption it will not resume the agent’s speech.
What false_interruption_timeout means
• false_interruption_timeout = 1.0 is the time in seconds the system waits after detecting voice activity during agent playback to decide the interruption is false.
• If no valid transcription appears within that 1.0s window, the system treats the event as a false interruption (emits an agent_false_interruption event) and then follows the resume_false_interruption policy.
Summary
• Brief noises or non‑transcribed sounds during the agent’s speech will be considered false interruptions if no transcript appears within 1.0s, and because resume_false_interruption is False, the agent will not resume speaking after those false interruptions.
