03/17/2026, 7:46 PMroom_metadata_changed event when the server updates it.
Recommended pattern to update metadata from your React app:
1. From your React app, send the new metadata to your backend (for example, via a POST to an endpoint like /rooms/:roomId/metadata).
2. On the backend, call the server SDK’s UpdateRoomMetadata API (Node, Python, Ruby, etc.) with the new metadata.
3. The server update will trigger a room_metadata_changed event that your clients can listen for to refresh UI/state.
If you want, tell me:
• Which server language you use (Node, Python, Ruby), and I’ll provide a short example of the server endpoint and the call to UpdateRoomMetadata.
• Or paste the shape of the metadata you want to set, and I can show a concrete request/response flow you can wire into your React app. Sources: server-sdk-ruby | livekit/livekit_composite | DeepWiki | Server-side | livekit/livekit_composite | DeepWiki, with interactive elements
