03/12/2026, 9:18 PMlk agent create, and
• deploy future updates with lk agent deploy.
Run these commands in order:
1. Install the LiveKit CLI
curl -sSL <https://get.livekit.io/cli> | bash
1. Authenticate with LiveKit Cloud
lk cloud auth
(This opens a browser so you can log in and link the CLI to your project.)
1. Initialize an agent project from a template
lk agent init my-agent --template agent-starter-node
Replace my-agent with your folder name and agent-starter-node with agent-starter-python if you prefer Python.
1. Enter the project directory
cd my-agent
1. Install dependencies (Node.js template example)
pnpm install
If the template uses npm or yarn, use npm install or yarn install instead.
1. (Optional but recommended) Pre-download runtime model files
pnpm download-files
This prevents cold-start delays for agent models.
1. Create (first-time deploy) the agent
lk agent create
This builds the image, registers the agent with your LiveKit project, and generates a livekit.toml with the agent ID and subdomain.
1. Deploy updates later
After you change code or config, run:
lk agent deploy
This re-builds and deploys a new version using the same agent ID.
Quick summary block you can copy:
curl -sSL <https://get.livekit.io/cli> | bash
lk cloud auth
lk agent init my-agent --template agent-starter-node
cd my-agent
pnpm install
pnpm download-files
lk agent create
# after changes:
lk agent deploy
If you want, tell me:
• which template you want (Node or Python),
• whether you use pnpm, npm, or yarn, and
• any specific environment variables or model plugins you plan to enable—
and I’ll tailor the commands or add any extra steps (e.g., editing livekit.toml, setting secrets, or checking logs).
