12/24/2025, 1:58 PMegress_started webhook was sent, but there are no egress-worker errors in those logs — only later data-channel warnings and a note that no agent worker was available.
To continue diagnosing, please provide the following so I can pinpoint why the egress stops immediately:
• Egress worker logs (stdout/stderr) around 2025-12-24T135053 — this is the most important missing piece.
• The exact egress request payload you sent (redact secrets). You started a Room Composite per the server log; please confirm.
• Egress service and LiveKit server versions (image tags or git tags).
• How the egress service is deployed (separate pod/container, same host) and whether it shares the same Redis as LiveKit.
• Output type and config (file/S3/RTMP) and confirmation that the destination is reachable/writable from the egress worker.
• Whether egress ever worked in this environment or if this is a fresh setup.
If you paste the egress worker log excerpt and the egress request, I’ll identify the likely cause and give exact next steps.magnificent-monitor-48407

12/24/2025, 1:59 PMchrome: END_RECORDING and sends EOS — the pipeline goes stopping → finished and the egress becomes EGRESS_ABORTED.
• Early warnings show missing CUDA (libcuda.so.1) and many unmapped audio formats (warnings only).
• The behavior (Chrome ends recording right after launch) usually means Chrome couldn’t capture any media or the recorder exited immediately (no audio input, missing PulseAudio/X display, or Chrome not present/usable). NVENC/CUDA warnings are not fatal by themselves but can indicate a misconfigured GPU setup.
Next steps to fix — please try these in order and tell me what changes/outputs you see:
1) Verify Chrome is available and runnable inside the egress container
• Exec into the egress container and run google-chrome --version or chromium --version. If Chrome is missing, install it or use the official egress image that includes Chrome.
2) Ensure a display server + audio sink is available for Chrome
• Confirm Xvfb or an X server is available and the DISPLAY is set (logs show an X display was created, but confirm it actually runs).
• Install and run PulseAudio in the container (or ensure PulseAudio is available on the host and accessible). The egress uses Pulse to capture audio for Room Composite; if Pulse is missing the recorder can end immediately.
3) If you don’t use GPU encoding, disable NVENC to avoid GPU dependency
• Either remove GPU flags or force software encoding in the egress request/config (set video_encoder: "software" if applicable). The libcuda.so.1 error indicates CUDA libs aren’t present; software encoding avoids that.
4) Confirm there is active audio in the room when egress starts
• You have audio_only: true. If no participant audio is present at start, Chrome may end recording. Start egress while a participant is publishing audio and retry.
5) Check temporary directory permissions
• Ensure /home/egress/tmp/<egress-id>/ is writable by the egress process (logs show it removes the tmp dir, but verify permissions).
6) Test with a minimal egress request and local file output first
• Use a simple Room Composite request that writes to a local file (not S3) to isolate S3 issues. If local file works, re-enable S3.
If you try steps 1–4, please paste:
• The egress worker log lines around the new run (especially any Chrome / pulse / gstreamer errors).
• The exact minimal egress request you used (redact secrets).
I’ll continue from the new logs and tell you the exact config change to fix it.magnificent-monitor-48407

12/24/2025, 2:03 PMXvfb :99 -screen 0 1280x720x24 &
export DISPLAY=:99
• Verify: echo $DISPLAY -> :99 and ps aux | grep Xvfb
2) Ensure PulseAudio has an active sink
• Create an active null sink if needed:
pactl load-module module-null-sink sink_name=egress_sink
pactl set-default-sink egress_sink
• Verify: pactl list short sinks should show egress_sink and not SUSPENDED.
3) Restart the egress worker after Xvfb and PulseAudio are running, then retry the Room Composite egress.
What I’ll watch for in the logs after you retry:
• Chrome should no longer log END_RECORDING immediately.
• Pipeline should transition from building → playing, and final status should be EGRESS_COMPLETE (or S3 upload progress if using S3).
If you run those commands and paste the new short egress-worker log excerpt (lines around Chrome start and pipeline state), I’ll confirm the next steps.magnificent-monitor-48407

12/24/2025, 2:04 PMXvfb :99 -screen 0 1280x720x24 &), exports DISPLAY=:99, and then runs the egress binary.
b. Configure the Helm chart to use your custom image.
c. Ensure PulseAudio is available (either start it in the container or point PULSE_SERVER to a host/sidecar Pulse).
• Run Xvfb as a sidecar
a. Add an Xvfb sidecar container in the pod spec that starts Xvfb on :99.
b. Share the DISPLAY environment variable and any necessary IPC/volumes with the egress container.
c. Provide an active PulseAudio sink (sidecar or host Pulse) and set PULSE_SERVER if needed.
Quick checks after deploying:
• echo $DISPLAY in the egress container should return the display (e.g., :99).
• ps aux | grep Xvfb should show Xvfb running.
• pactl list short sinks should show a non-suspended sink.
• Egress logs should show Chrome launching without immediate END_RECORDING and the pipeline moving to playing.
If you want, tell me which approach you prefer (custom image or sidecar) and I’ll provide a minimal Dockerfile + entrypoint script for the custom-image route or the exact sidecar pod snippet to add to the Helm values.
