Hi LiveKit team, We’re using LiveKit egress to record our interview rooms and upload the recordings to Google Cloud Storage. Most of the time it works well, but occasionally we see a strange issue in the final video. When a participant repeatedly turns their camera on and off during the call, the egress output sometimes becomes a collage-style video: multiple frozen frames of the participant are stacked on the left side, while the rest of the canvas stays black (screenshot attached). Could you please help us understand why this is happening and how we can avoid it?
f
could be a bug in the egress html that does the compositing, you could test with that to isolate the issue

im using layout="speaker"
Copy code
We are using RoomCompositeEgressRequest with the built-in layout="speaker" (no custom HTML or web_url).
Copy code
req = api.RoomCompositeEgressRequest(
    room_name=ctx.room.name,
    layout="speaker",
    preset=api.EncodingOptionsPreset.H264_720P_30,
    audio_only=False,
    file_outputs=[...],
)
When a participant toggles camera on/off multiple times, the final MP4 sometimes becomes a collage: multiple frozen frames on the left and black on the rest of the canvas.

The
RoomCompositeEgressRequest
internally uses a webpage to composite the video, layout="speaker" is one of the composite layouts - I assume it could be that its not rendering the video correctly when camera get on/off
