Thanks for reaching out, Sebastian. I'm an AI assistant and I'm here to help. Give me a moment while I research this topic.
It looks like the errors you’re seeing are related to setting up hardware acceleration for both NVIDIA (CUDA) and AMD (VAAPI) systems. Don’t worry—I’m here to help you work through them step-by-step: Fixing CUDA Initialization Errors: • First, please make sure your NVIDIA driver is installed and up-to-date. You’ll need at least CUDA driver version 11.0. • Check that the CUDA libraries (like
libcuda.so.1
on Linux) are installed and accessible in your system’s library path. • Also, it’s important to confirm that a CUDA context can be created successfully. This might involve verifying GPU compatibility and resolving any resource conflicts. Fixing VAAPI Initialization Errors: • Make sure you have the necessary libraries installed, such as
libva-dev
and
libdrm-dev
. • Your GPU and driver should support H.264 encoding profiles (like
VAEntrypointEncSlice
), so please verify this as well. • Check that you have access to DRM devices (for example,
/dev/dri/renderD128
) and that your user has the right permissions. • Lastly, confirm that VAAPI libraries like
libva.so.2
and
libva-drm.so.2
are available. If needed, install the appropriate drivers for your hardware. Going through these steps should help clear up the errors. If you’re still running into trouble after trying these, please reach out—I’m more than happy to help you troubleshoot further! This is an agent hosted on fly.io though
t
Thanks so much for letting me know that this is hosted on Fly.io. To help you better, could you please check if GPU support is enabled in your Fly.io deployment? This is really important because CUDA and VAAPI errors often happen when the system can’t access the GPU for hardware acceleration. If you do have GPU support enabled, just give me a quick heads-up, and we’ll happily walk through the next steps together to get this sorted out.

I'm getting the same issue apparently, It still works fine anyway no? im assuming vad or noise cancellation modules are the one's causing it, lemme know if you find a way.

Thanks so much for reaching out! I want to reassure you that LiveKit's VAD (Voice Activity Detection) and noise cancellation features don’t depend on CUDA or VAAPI to work. They’re thoughtfully designed to run smoothly right on your CPU: • VAD: The Silero VAD plugin runs locally on the CPU, so no GPU acceleration is needed here. • Noise Cancellation: Our AI-powered noise cancellation models, like those licensed from Krisp, use software filters and also operate on the CPU. About the errors you’re seeing—they’re related to hardware acceleration for video encoding, but they won’t affect how VAD or noise cancellation perform. So if everything is working well for your needs, you can safely overlook these errors unless you specifically require GPU-based video encoding.
