For web-based React applications, you can also implement runtime debugging features like debug mode hooks and interactive debug overlays. These allow you to toggle debugging features and access detailed room, participant, and track information.
To get started, place the appropriate launch.json file in your project’s .vscode directory and use the Run and Debug panel in VSCode to select and start your desired debugging configuration.

07/28/2025, 5:55 AM.vscode/launch.json file in your project directory. It's like your debugging roadmap for Android and iOS.
◦ Check out these handy configurations – they're your best friends for different debugging scenarios:
▪︎ `Debug Android`: Perfect for when you're tinkering with Android development
▪︎ `Run Android`: Want to test performance? This one's got your back
▪︎ `Run Android (Release)`: Getting ready for the big show? This is your go-to
▪︎ `Debug iOS`: iOS developers, this one's for you!
▪︎ `Run iOS`: Performance testing on iOS? We've got you covered
◦ Pro tip: Just hop over to the Run and Debug panel in VSCode and pick the configuration that fits your needs.
• Web Application Debugging:
◦ Debugging web apps? The useDebugMode hook is your new best friend. It'll help you configure log levels and peek into your room context – super helpful!
• Flutter Projects:
◦ Flutter fans, we've got pre-configured .vscode/launch.json settings that support debug, profile, and release modes. Easy peasy!
• Unity Projects:
◦ For Unity lovers, just attach the debugger to your running Unity instance using the vstuc type in the .vscode/launch.json. Simple as that!
• Additional Debugging Tools:
◦ Pro move: Grab the LiveKit Chrome Developer Extension. It's packed with awesome tools like the LiveKit Cloud Dashboard, WebRTC Browser Test, and WebRTC Internals.
Just a friendly reminder – make sure you're in the right LiveKit SDK directory and choose a debug configuration that matches your platform and debugging goals. Happy debugging! 🚀 Sources: .vscode/launch.json | React Native SDK | livekit/livekit_composite | DeepWiki | lib/Debug.tsx | .vscode/launch.json | Samples~/Basic/.vscode/launch.jsonflat-diamond-66151

07/28/2025, 5:58 AM./bootstrap.sh successfully. I’d like to run and debug the LiveKit server (written in Go) directly from VS Code with breakpoints, etc.
Has anyone set up a proper launch.json config or have tips on how to run it in debug mode with the right env vars and args?
Any help or example setup would be appreciated!
