We have not.. though it's not impossible depending on the device. Mobile devices tend to run hot if application is really taxing.. typically I've seen this if you are rendering a lot of videos and/or publishing 1080p+ videos

@dry-elephant-14928, we’re currently rendering anywhere from 3-8 videos at a time, and have found that with 4 LiveKit video streams running the browser starts to hog 30-40% CPU. A lot of the CPU usage seems to be coming from just rerendering the video These are our current video settings:
Copy code
videoCaptureDefaults: {
        resolution: {
          frameRate: 30,
          height: 400,
          width: 400,
          aspectRatio: 1,
        },
        facingMode: "user",
      },
      audioCaptureDefaults: {
        echoCancellation: true,
        noiseSuppression: true,
        autoGainControl: true,
      },
      publishDefaults: {
        videoEncoding: {
          maxBitrate: 450_000,
          maxFramerate: 30,
        },
        videoSimulcastLayers: [
          {
            resolution: { width: 400, height: 400 },
            width: 400,
            height: 400,
            encoding: { maxFramerate: 15, maxBitrate: 450_000 },
          },
          {
            resolution: { width: 120, height: 120 },
            width: 120,
            height: 120,
            encoding: { maxFramerate: 15, maxBitrate: 100_000 },
          },
        ],
      },
    });
Any recommendations?

have you tried forcing h.264 when publishing the video? that should help as the encoding/decoding would use hardware instead of software
b
Would h.264 work with simulcasting/dynacasting? I thought we needed vp9 for that?
d
yeah it does
b
Great, thanks!
