Assuming you mean the connection state of a local participant to a room. The local participant doesn’t carry that information, but rather you want to look at the connection state of the room. By default the ConnectionQuality should be
unknown
until a first update comes in from the server setting the actual ConnectionQuality.
w
aah seems like example app ignored this
or is poor disconnected?
p
no, poor just means poor network conditions
w
okay hmm
so I need to use ConnectionState and ConnectionQuality

where do I get the ConnectionState from in realtime? not from any event? is it only by listening to the room itself ?
p
cc @freezing-lifeguard-43174 for the best way to observe this
w
Yeah im now observing the room and adding its connectionState to
BehaviorSubject
which changes I can listen to in a streambuilder
f
Yes,
ConnectionState
is used for the connection status of the room, and
ConnectionQuality
is the media connection quality for each track Participant.
w
Thanks for clarifying
ConnectionQuality
further but if connectionQuality is for each track then why is it a single attribute of the localParticipant. What am I not understanding
f
Sorry, correct what I said before, ConnectionQuality for each participant, for localParticipant refers to the quality of the network you upload.
