Hello @worried-leather-93857, I'm sure one of the LK Team member will be able to help, but I would suggest you, if you don't mind sharing, adding your LK project name here so they could maybe look up the logs or something. Just my 2 cents.
w
I can not do that sorry

ah, let me check

are you self-hosting or using Cloud? It sounds like the intended update has been applied?
w
We are self hosting. We can see the room metadata updating in the livekit server but the
RoomMetadataChangedEvent
on flutter frontend side doesn't fire every time the room medata is updated.

Hey, I checked the
ParticipantMetadataChangedEvent
and
RoomMetadataChangeEvent
updates and both are working correctly on flutter app. but you need to do the following checks, 1. To update the participant’s Metadata, you need to add the --allow-update-metadata parameter when creating the token.
livekit-cli/bin/livekit-cli create-token \
    --api-key apikey --api-secret apiscert \
--join --room live --identity macapp \
    --allow-update-metadata --valid-for 500h
2. Room Metadata update can be triggered through the following command, but please note that the same metadata string will not trigger
RoomMetadataChangedEvent
twice.
./livekit-cli/bin/livekit-cli update-room-metadata --api-key apikey --api-secret apiscert --room live --metadata new_metaeata_value
and you can use this branch to test https://github.com/livekit/client-sdk-flutter/pull/397.
w
so if the metadata was previously
'{"is_locked":false}'
and now its
'{"is_locked":true}'
it wont trigger again?
f
hum, the string changes and should be triggered
I think it’s ok, I can receive the trigger twice
Copy code
./livekit-cli/bin/livekit-cli update-room-metadata --api-key apikey --api-secret apiscert --room live --metadata '{"is_locked":true}'
w
For anyone interested an update: Me managed to make it work by changing how we host our livekit servers to use redis with it with kubernetes.
