The project is configured mostly like the official sample app. I'm using adaptiveStream and dynacast set to true. For the participants that are not visible on screen I'm always disabling video tracks. Things I've tried so far: 1. Avoid using adaptive stream (adaptiveStream = false) and try setting the video tracks VideoQuality to LOW. 2. Avoid using the adaptive stream and trying to set the dimensions to (50, 50) in order to get the lower quality of the video.
This layout is typically employed when some of the participants is sharing their screen. In the attached file, you will find a preview showcasing degraded video tracks. As you can see in this layout we display a maximum of four video tracks on the screen, other tracks are not enabled.
Also, when I disable adaptiveStream and use LOW quality for video tracks, some devices experience crash when joining to a call that has ~*15* (sometimes less) participants. This is the crash log:
This was my inquiry about the option to reduce the quality of video tracks: https://livekit-users.slack.com/archives/C01KVTJH6BX/p1697615503324879

turning off adaptive stream and crashing sounds about right, android devices can’t handle receiving many streams at once (can only handle around 10-15 simultaneous decoding on average devices). adaptive stream turn on will stop the stream from being received while it’s not being displayed

the video degradation seems more like the bitrate being choked rather than the particular quality of the video I think, is this on livekit cloud? if so, do you have a session id we could look at?
i
We are running self hosted livekit server.
The lagging is not noticeable early into the call. Usually around 10th minute the tracks start to lag, it feels like the frame rate drops significantly...

do you have clients on other platforms? does this only happen on android?
i
We constantly monitor internet connection, and it is always really good. i.e. Today during a group call we had an opportunity to test behaviour on a 30+ participants call. Several colleagues that were using android devices reported a lag around 10-15 minutes into the call...
do you have clients on other platforms?
Yes of course, most of the participants were using web clients, there were only like 5-6 of us using android clients. Web clients work flawlessly!
If you need any info regarding the setup, please feel free to ask...
