on which browser do you observe that behaviour? I think LiveKit currently only supports audio output selection with chrome
d
It's chrome on macos
latest version of the js sdk and react component
p
thanks! how are you switching active device after connection? I just tried to reproduce this with the example app of the client-sdk-js repo, and audio output selection works as expected there in chrome
d
Thanks for testing! I'll try the same here and see if it works with the example app. I've tried this inside the room context.
Copy code
useEffect(() => {
    if(isConnected) {
      console.log('Usg lg speaker')
      const doIt = async () => {
        const result = await room.switchActiveDevice('audiooutput','e5490f86df8015fbc7f3e56e163ae26f4d23660de7086d5ec80e6aad0084fa4b')
        console.log('do result', result)
      }
      doIt()
    }
  }, [room, isConnected])
p
hm, maybe the id of the output has changed since then? might be that it changes ids whenever you plug in/out the speaker
d
Hmm don’t think so, I’m not plugging anything in or out in between, this was just a test with a hardcoded Id to see if it worked at all to change the device. Will try the demo and see if I can get it to work there, thanks 👍🏻

Hey, @polite-kilobyte-67570, does this:
Copy code
noiseSuppression: true, echoCancellation: true
do anything to the audio quality the other user hears? I’ve tried to test them either enabled or disabled and to be honest not sure if there is any difference in the quality of sounds so not sure what do to next 😅
