haven’t seen this before, do you know what Safari version affected users are on?
What I can observe on v16.5: Screen share goes black if a different tab tries to access the camera. (I could imagine if a different tab accesses
mediaDevices.getUserMedia
)
w
Safari 14.1.3 <-> Safari 16.3
p
Generally subscribing to them seems to work fine on meet.livekit.io with Safari v16.5
w
hmm, we are sharing screen using:
Copy code
await room.localParticipant!.setScreenShareEnabled(
        true,
        captureScreenAudio: true,
        screenShareCaptureOptions: const ScreenShareCaptureOptions(
          preferCurrentTab: false,
        ),
      );
p
Safari 14.1.3 <-> Safari 16.3
all of them, both of them, or first one used to work and second doesn’t work?
w
we have several machines with safari ranging from 14.1.3 to 16.3
and everyone is experience issues
we also tried to roll back livekit and webrtc versions but the issue remain. But if you guys do not experience the same issues then its probably our implementation
p
maybe safari dislikes the
preferCurrentTab
option? I guess that’s chrome only currently?
to be clear: what client sdk are you using ?
w
1.4.0
for flutter
Copy code
flutter_webrtc: ^0.9.36
livekit_client: ^1.4.0

according to mozilla
preferCurrentTab
is not supported on safari
we update two of our machines to 16.6 and 17.0 (beta) for safari and its working flawlessly in 16.6 but not 17.0
so im guessing livekit 1.4.0, webrtc 0.9.36, and safari <16.5 is not working so well together?

hi @green-crayon-77332,Is there any js console error log when error occurs?
I am using 1.4.0 + safari 17.0 to share the screen, but the process will be more complicated than before. You need to click the share button in the flutter app, click "`Allow to Share Screen"`, then click the green camera button on the system status bar, and then click
Screen
button, then select
Share this Screen
to actually select and share the screen
w
@freezing-lifeguard-43174 the only error we managed to see was
A MediaStreamTrack ended due to a capture failure
but it is working like you said in safari 17 even though its a nightmare

@wide-shoe-67933 is there an app where we can reproduce this at? I've tried our sample app and I'm able to share screen with Safari 16.5.2
w
hmm, I cant really share any code. We only used the functions from your documentations. But if your sample apps work then its not an issue on your end and more how we have implemented it.
d
I don't mean code.. but if it's a website that I can try.. would be interesting to see if it's reproducible
w
Sure, give me a sec and I'll hook up with some test accounts.
