I think this is doable, In my opinion this is how I will go about it, Install camera package along with Livekit package Make a call to Livekits API, during the time of connecting or before initiating the Livekit SDK listen to the connection. Once the connection it's successful, you know what to do next.
s
@gray-photographer-38040 I'm already using the camera package for exactly this purpose. I was curious if it is possible to use livekit only. Since it also has access to local camera stream

@silly-train-16715 You can create LocalAudio/VideoTrack in preJoin page, use fastConnect to pass them to room. https://github.com/livekit/client-sdk-flutter/blob/main/lib/src/options.dart#L19-L28
s
Hi @freezing-lifeguard-43174. Thank you for the hint with VideoTrack. It helped. But I didn't get the part with fast connect. Can you provide an example on how to use pass already created local VideoTrack to the room on creation/connection?
f
No problem, let me create a PR to implement this example

@silly-train-16715 please try this branch https://github.com/livekit/client-sdk-flutter/pull/322

Hi @freezing-lifeguard-43174. I've tested. Thats a shame that I missed the
track
argument in
TrackOption
😅. Thanks. However I noticed a problem: I joined the room with two phones and noticed that even mics on both devices were on and the corresponding icons were showing that the participants have their mics on (even blue outline was flashing), only one participant was hearing the other. I guess you've made this branch after release of version of 1.4.0 for Flutter. Maybe it is something related to this commit https://github.com/livekit/client-sdk-flutter/commit/7b7272156018e50b8be94a53a0a3112eb253c1e7

I also updated Flutter livekit client in the app I'm currently working on (1.3.5 -> 1.4.0) and experiencing the same behaviour.
f
Are you using Android or iOS? I will try to reproduce the issue you describe
s
Both
It can be reproduced with Android devices
I used two android devices when testing your example app
f
Just tested, it should be normal, the first time after 1.4.0, the app will use the handset by default, so the volume will be low, you can try to switch to the speaker after the first connection.
s
So I have to manually switch to speaker every time I connect to room?
Hey @freezing-lifeguard-43174. Don't want to bother too much but I have one more question regarding pre-join page. Is there a way I can get info if the participant is speaking? Can I get this info from
LocalAudioTrack
somehow?
f
Do you mean a volume indicator? to verify the microphone you are using
s
Yes. I want to show user that the mic is on and everything is working before he enters the call
f
okay, I'll find a way to implement this feature.

Thank you. It'll be great
w
Any info on this branch going to prod
and can we show that audio is working somehow
s
@worried-leather-93857 Here is a branch where you can view an example on how to implement this feature https://github.com/livekit/client-sdk-flutter/tree/feat/prejoin-example Regarding audio. Currently it is not possible, I believe. But Duan promised to take a look.
