Hello all quick question about local/dev setup docs. CONTRIBUTING still recommends GitHub Codespaces / VS Code Remote Containers, but

.devcontainer/devcontainer.json

was removed in #5906 (Jun 2023) — that PR was about org projects API, not Docker/devcontainer. Is there a reason we intentionally dropped Dev Containers / Codespaces, or was that an accidental deletion? If unintentional, should we restore

.devcontainer

and/or update CONTRIBUTING to remove that section? Thanks

Hey Lalit! sorry about that. Using Codespaces or remote containers is not recommended anymore. Some other pieces that depended on that file were also discarded. Most of the team just run everything local and I personally use the Docker compose setup. I've opened a PR to clean up the contributing guide, thanks again for flagging and let me know how your setup goes!

Hi @Tatiana Inama , thanks for the clarification! I've already set up the entire Lightdash repository using the Docker Compose setup, and I've also opened two PRs. They haven't received any reviews or feedback yet, so I just wanted to ask about the review process. Is there a typical timeline for PR reviews? Or are external contributor PRs not being prioritized at the moment? I'm really interested in contributing, especially to the work around moving Lightdash into the agentic space, so I'd love to know the best way to get involved. Thanks 😄

Hi Lalit, Thanks so much for the contributions - really great to see the enthusiasm, especially around the agentic work! I want to be upfront: we're a small team so we can't always prioritize reviewing community PRs quickly. We do tend to bump PRs that are blocking for users to the top of the queue.
