Hi team! I'd like to share a request about CSV export control. When we have users who should only view dashboards, there's currently no way to restrict bulk CSV exports. The concern isn't whether data can be accessed — it's the scale. Copy-pasting a few rows is very different from exporting 10,000+ records in one click. For organizations with compliance requirements, a simple admin toggle to restrict bulk exports would be great. One thing worth knowing - if you're on the Enterprise plan, there's actually a way to do this today using custom roles. The trick is setting users to the

member

org role (not

viewer

) and giving them a custom project role that includes dashboard viewing but leaves out the

manage:ExportCsv

permission. The

viewer

org role grants CSV export access org-wide, so keeping them at

member

at the org level is what makes the restriction stick. It's not a simple toggle, but it does work. Happy to walk through the setup if that's relevant for you!

Good to know about the custom role workaround — we're not on the Enterprise plan at the moment, so it's not immediately applicable for us, but it's helpful context nonetheless. Hopefully the issue keeps gaining traction. I'll keep an eye on it for updates!

✅ We've fixed issue #20983: Allow disabling CSV export per role Lightdash Cloud users will automatically get the fix once your instance updates (All instances update at 01:00 PST [10:00 CET] daily). Self-hosted users should update to the latest version to get the fix 🎉
