Hi guys! At the widget desing level, would it be possible to chose whether or not we want the "comment" feature to be visible for end users when they hover over the chart and trigger the top-left corner tooltip to show up? Cheers!

👋 Thanks for your message - someone from the Lightdash support team will get back to you asap. Feel free to add any additional context to the thread here in the meantime (screenshots, app version if you're self-hosting etc.).

Hello! Can you share more about why this would be useful for you?
g
Sure! Basically most of our users are "viewers", and they get confused when they see the "comment" button which shows nothing when they click on it.

Hey Guillaume, thanks for explaining that. Right now there's no way to hide the icon per-tile or per-dashboard, but since you're self-hosted you have a couple of options: 1. Set DISABLE_DASHBOARD_COMMENTS=true in your environment variables - that turns off the comment feature entirely across your instance, so the icon won't show up for anyone. 2. If you still want comments available for non-viewer roles, you could remove the "view DashboardComments" permission from the viewer role specifically. That way your viewers won't see the icon at all, but editors and admins still can. We've logged a feature request for more granular control (per-tile or per-dashboard toggle). No timeline on this yet, but it's tracked [#23226].

I've upvoted issue #23226 for you! This issue has been requested by 1 other user. I'll notify everyone here as soon as it's fixed.

hey @Tori Whaley! thanks a lot, "DISABLE_DASHBOARD_COMMENTS=true" at the application level will do the trick for now for us 👍
