Hey everyone! 👋 I’m Zainab, a first-year CS student, and I’m really interested in contributing to Kotlin Foundation for GSoC 2025. Since I’m new to open-source, I had a few questions: 1️⃣ Where can I find beginner-friendly issues to start contributing? 2️⃣ How can I reach out to mentors for guidance on my proposal? 3️⃣ What type of contributions are encouraged (bug fixes, documentation, new features, etc.)? I’d really appreciate any help or pointers.

Hi ,Kotlin developers😁 Thank you for considering my interest!!!! I look forward to the possibility of contributing to the Kotlin ecosystem. My name is Lizhong Hu, and I am a second-year undergraduate student majoring in Software Engineering. I have foundational experience in Java, Python, and C++, and I am actively developing my skills in Kotlin. I am keenly interested in contributing to the Kotlin Foundation through Google Summer of Code 2025. 🤩🤩🤩 The project idea, "Clean and actionable reporting for Gradle code quality plugins for Kotlin," particularly caught my attention due to its potential to significantly enhance the developer experience for Kotlin users by leveraging the new Gradle Problems API. I am eager to learn more about this project and explore how I might contribute.🙂

Hello Everyone. Finally, I took the step to submit a proposal for the IntelliJ Platform Gradle Plugin – Gradle Reporting and Parallel Verifications. Would love any feedback as comments on my Google doc here 🙏🏾 Thank you! (Yeesh, already nervous 😬) I would like to improve the parts about testing with an analysis of the performance of the Worker API implementation. Do you have any advice here, @Jakub Chrzanowski? I am considering researching if Build Scan will suffice, https://docs.gradle.org/current/userguide/inspect.html. Am I going down the wrong path here?

Hi everyone, Arpit here! @Oleg Nenashev @Ksenia Shneyveys — is there a group or channel for the Gradle convention plugin related to Jenkins plugin development? I’ve submitted my GSoC proposal focused on migrating the Gradle JPI plugin codebase from Groovy to Kotlin, and I’m very interested in collaborating on this and related open-source projects.

For the Build Server Protocol Project Task one asks applicants to write Gradle plugin How do we represent that in the Proposal should we directly include the code in proposal or link the Github repository with the output screenshots in the readme? If anyone can help me! thanks!

Congrats again to all accepted contributors! I plan to do the first office hours next week for the teams, Gradle or not, the timing poll is here. The goal is to discuss community bonding and help teams to get started. It is totally optional and you can ask everything on Slack, but the office hours are also a goo thing to join if you participate in GSoC for the first time. Meeting poll - https://calendly.com/d/cndn-jt4-29x/gsoc-2025-in-kotlin-foundation-office-hours.
