q
What does
DROP TABLE
do when called on a logical table? Does it just remove the logical table pointer or does it also delete all the matching rows from the corresponding physical table?
l
It only removes the "pointer" — no rows are deleted from the physical table.
q
Is there a way to clean up the rows from the physical table?
Would
TRUNCATE
or
DELETE
on the logical table do it before dropping the table?
l
DELETE
works on logical tables, but notice that it will scan all rows from the logical table and write a tombstone for them.
