One more point on the DATE_TRUNC query - its not completely 1:1 as InfluxQL's time bucket let you choose any sort of duration. This was useful because if you were loading a month of data, grafana would pick an appropriate $__interval, the aggregate would happen on the server, rather than streaming a million points into the browser
