Hi! I am an admin for my org's Graphite workspace. I got an email that an employee no longer with the company joined our team on Graphite. I confirmed that they were in fact in the Graphite workspace, but not in our corresponding GitHub organization. My understanding is that a GitHub account must be in the GitHub org to be a part of the Graphite org. Is this not the case? Thanks in advance!

Graphite workspace membership is managed separately from GitHub org membership, so someone can end up on the Graphite team even if they're not showing as a GitHub org member. Admins remove people under Settings → Billing (⋯ → Remove from team): *https://graphite.com/docs/graphite-admin* If they're already gone from that list, you're set, otherwise remove them there and they won't keep a seat. Thanks!

thanks for the reply! to confirm, how does someone join our Graphite workspace? is it automatically offered as an option based on the domain of their email? I am wondering how they even invited themselves in the first place
c
Not based on email domain, Graphite doesn’t auto-add people from your company domain. Someone joins when an admin invites them (Settings > Billing > Invite / invite link), or they sign into Graphite with a GitHub account that can access your org (or a repo in it) and join the workspace themselves. On Teams there’s no admin-approval step for that: *https://graphite.com/docs/graphite-admin*

someone signed in to a GitHub account that cannot access any of our repos or our org, but was able to join our Graphite workspace. would that be expected?
c
No, that should not happen unless they are a contributor to the repository in some way. Can you share their github username with me? PM works or post to this thread
a
yup will PM!
c
Since they were a contributor they were added, you removing from the billing area is the best action. I would also make sure they have been removed as reviewers/commenters on any open PRs so they are not re-added on a sync. Thanks!
a
do you mean they are a contributor in our GH org? because we checked when they joined the graphite workspace, and we confirmed they were not in our GH org - as a member or contributor!
would them being a reviewer or commenter on an open PR do it? even if they weren't part of the org?
while i have you here, we actually have a second issue - there is a user in our org that can never merge any PRs - they always get a "not found" error. has any other customer reported this?
c
Can you link me the PR? Sometimes this happens when their has been changes on GH side and we cannot find it.
a
it happens on every PR for this user in this repo
c
Can you link me a specific PR so I can view the logs? It helps me quickly troubleshoot. Thanks!
