<!here> Hi community! You may have seen we announced Origin: Cursor’s own code hosting platform, designed for the scale and speed that agentic development is quickly demanding. Graphite's goal has always been to upgrade the core developer platform, not just help teams ship better code. Our partnership with Cursor has accelerated that timeline and opened the door to tackle a part of the stack that's long been neglected: the git forge. Teams have told us for years they want a more modern and more reliable forge, and Origin is our answer to that. We are looking to gather early signal from customers as to what we're building, so if you're interested in learning more feel free to DM me or reply in 🧵

Probably a good sign they're moving in the right direction if everyone on the outside is just like "git hosting when?" 😂

I was always thinking why can't graphite have their own git server and have to rely on github

I'm waiting for years to try an alternative to GitHub 🥳

How about alternative providers not a whole new stack? Like why not have a GitLab or similar integration?

Interested in learning more. This got the attention of our director of engineering--in her words, "I wouldn't count GitHub out, but they certainly seem behind."

We would be interested in learning more as well!

Sounds interesting! We also started evaluating different alternatives to Github but we did not want to lose Graphite.
