Ever since the github PR listing outage (and continuing today), gt sync gets stuck on "fatal: couldn't find remote ref refs/heads/..." for the first branch in the list

(If applicable) To help us repro, please send the following if you haven't already: - PR links, screenshots, and/or debug output if applicable - Repro steps - Does this happen consistently? Just to you or others on your team also? - Is this a regression? Is the problem new? - If you're having an issue with the CLI, please send us debug logs using
gt feedback --with-debug-context <any message>
Hey Matt, does "list" here mean stack? Has this PR been merged? deleted? I think a quick fix would be
gt delete [branch]
to remove the failing branch from Graphite metadata, delete the local git branch, and restack the children onto the parent. Note: you may need
--force
 flag on that delete call.
m
No, it's still up on github. and by list I mean the list of PRs being synced which is in the debug log of gt sync
p
got it, could you please run
gt feedback -d
 to send over CLI logs?
m
Done

This is probably our issue. I think you should be able to
gt untrack
the problem branches.
m
Untracking allows me to sync, but re-tracking them later just brings me back to the same state
p
Right, I would expect this to continually fail in its current state. I think the alternative here would be
gt rename
, which would remove association to that old pull request.. GitHub PR branch names are immutable, so renaming the local branch breaks the lookup that keeps re-attaching the dead PR. You could then
gt submit
to create a new PR when you're ready to.
