https://app.graphite.com/github/pr/CondorSoftware/condor/8087 merge queue failed because the temporary PR doesn’t have a screenshot in the description

We can probably hack around this in our
require_screenshots
CI check, but this was an unexpected result when we enabled merge queue.

We’ll probably just exclude
graphite_app[bot]
from that check
There should be a warning when setting up merge queue that any CI that depends on the description should do that
p
hey Tyler, when using CI Settings with the merge queue there's some other behavior to be aware of here. The draft PRs will always use branches with
gtmq_
prefix so you can use this for customizing CI runs or other behavior for enqueued PR’s.
t
Got it, makes sense. Another thing that technically makes sense but isn’t expected and breaks the merge queue for us is that we have a bunch of CI checks that don’t run on draft, and the merge queue creates a draft PR.
p
yeah, that draft PR is for the CI Settings specifically which parallelize stack merges. If you disable the CI Settings then it won't be used
t
Is there still a benefit from MQ without CI Settings?
p
yes, it will still prevent semantic merge conflicts occurring. Other benefits are listed here.

Is the
gtmq_
check preferred over checking if
user
is
graphite_app[bot]
? The latter would be a lot more readable at a glance
p
I think it depends, as the
graphite_app[bot]
could be taking actions not specifically related to the draft PR
