gt modify
has an optional parameter
--commit
which should do what you want, if I understand correctly

thanks i'll try that!
yep that looks like exactly what i want! appreciate it!

We also track the pushed versions in the UI — in the dropdown at the top of the page you can view diffs between each version
s
only problem is that teammates don't use the UI so i have to optimize for github readability (but thank you for that tip!!)

I run into this issue a lot both as a reviewer (I still use the github UI) and as a graphite user on my PRs. If I am reviewing a PR, leave a few comments and then someone makes updates and runs
gt modify
. I can't see the code change that addressed by comments. I instead have to re-review all the code and lose context on the change. I know that the graphite UI shows versions but its a lot to ask people to move over to that UI when they may only use github

@Jacob Gold is there a way to set
gt
up to use
--commit
by default, and are there downsides to doing this?
I guess the main one is when there are conflicts, we'd have to resolve for each commit instead of just once for the branch
