I was setting up a process that requires a series of PRs, because Atlantis. I didn't quite know what steps I needed. I had two steps, but then realized those were the last two of four. Luckily everything is in different folders so no trouble with conflicts. I managed to get the branches I need in the order I need by 1. checking out the lower branch 2. adding the two additional steps as commits 3. `gt branch edit`ing them to come before the third (which was the first one I wrote) 4. `gt branch split`ing the first 3 steps by commit However then I wanted to behold my creation, but the branch for the fourth step was "missing". I could still switch to it, and
upstack onto
master and back got everything back in order
console session reproducing this on a fresh repository. the "stepN" naming here is what I learned after the fact, so they denote where the commit was to end up in the final state.

Strange - understood the situation and thanks for reporting! I'll file a ticket for a bug and we'll figure out what's going on here
