People have been known to make microservices using Grails and SpringBoot so that is also a possibility. When apps are small they tend to load a lot quicker. Also in the internet age nothing ever really dies as long as there is a community supporting it. Grail's support went through a lull for a while, but now there are more people supporting it again. I thought Perl would and should die, but it is still around and had a release less than a month ago.
