Would love if it could be something like
<http://slack-chats.gradle.org|slack-chats.gradle.org>
(similar to https://slack-chats.kotlinlang.org/)

Great idea! I will add it to the resources page. For this year we only got approved for funds for the linen domain but next year I am going to request the extra funds to have it on our own domain like Kotlin does. πŸ™‚

Also added it to the help page and pinned at the top of the general board. Thanks a ton!

Btw. is that Linen instance only having the messages written since the Linen setup, or did it also import a dump to have the older messages included?
a
It also did an import dump for all prior messsages

Interesing, I also tried to search for "linen" in the linen archive to find the initial conversation about linen and didn't find anything.
I only find this conversation when I search for it
And the search result just shows "user" and "@user" unless you open the search result where the proper usernames are shown, but that is probably either a linen bug or shortcoming you could forward to linen.
v
Maybe another bug in the linen search? If I seach for "linen.dev" now, I find the message you just posted, but also not the one you linked to, while in both cases it is only mentioned in the posted link.
If I search for "accurate", I find the orignal message you linked to

I got an update from linen, though the search is still not great we can edit the meta data of post to make it better. Here is the full details on the release the pushed:
First, we are still looking to solve the problem of missing questions from the community. We want to help ensure that people from your community don’t feel neglected because a question is overlooked.
β€’ Closing conversations
β—¦ You can now close conversations, and it will have a blue checkmark next to the conversation indicating that it has closed. This way, you can make sure you don’t miss conversations.
β—¦ The close state is to help manage your conversations as a team.
β€’ Sending messages from Linen
β—¦ We now provide a two-way sync where you can send and receive messages from within Linen in real-time.
β—¦ Let me know if you would be interested in trying out this feature. It is something we have to turn on per account.
β€’ Feed - All your conversations in one place
β—¦ We aggregate all conversations from your Slack channels into a single place, and you can filter conversations that are opened or closed
β€’ Setting titles:
β—¦ Titles can be set by clicking edit. It will improve SEO since it will update the metadata.
β—¦ It also works well as an excellent tool to scan through the threads when looking for a recent threads without having to read every word
β—¦ Check out linen.dev/s/linen for what it looks like

Should that change anything? I still don't find the original message if I search for "linen" and in the search result it still just shows "user" and "@User".
Well, at least one of the three things is fixed in the meantime. The post authors are not "user" anymore, but the actual users. Mentioned users are still all "@User" though and the search still does not work properly.

They are looking to replace the current search with something much more robust. Right now they still use Postgres full text search but are investigating a different search engine like elastic search. It is a priority they are aiming to improve the search in the coming weeks. They have github issues for these things now if you'd like to follow them: https://github.com/Linen-dev/linen.dev/issues/876 https://github.com/Linen-dev/linen.dev/issues/877
