Wow. docs.gradle.org/current/userguide/upgrading_version_9.html#… I can't actually belive the software model is going away that quickly. Which means 9.X will be the last versions of gradle we can use, and we are now forced to switch to something else. Because the new native support still does not work for us. It's been a good run, Gradle. Served us well for 10+ years.

I'm well impressed that your builds managed to survive so long on the old model. There was also another suite of gradle plugins for native development - nokee. @daniel used to maintain them. Not sure if he still does.

The software model was fantastic. 9.0 broke it a bit with some toolchain changes, but those were easy to fix. We've been keeping it up to date to. We even were super happy when arm64 windows started working and we could use it. We've got a whole suite of plugins built around the old model. I'm not surprised we're probably the biggest remaining user of it. And also not surprised that gradle never improved the new plugins. TBH I wouldn't be surprised if those get killed in 11.
