are declarative gradle and google's lightbuild competitors?

my understanding is that lightbuild "isn't for professionals" and is entirely aimed at "agents", so I would say no

everyone thinks they know best and there is apparently less coordination than perhaps we all thought or expected

competition is good, but competing with first party I don’t get yea

if I may resurrect this - once the declarative layer becomes the standard - does that mean performance improvements? i.e. less reason to move to bazel?
