TIAS, but honestly, why should you want to, if you can use IntelliJ? VSC is just a fancy text editor ๐Ÿ˜„
And "works with" is very vague. It is text, so you of course can edit them with any text editor
e
there's no official Kotlin language support for VSCode as far as I'm aware
there is a community Kotlin language server but it doesn't work in as many cases as the first-party JetBrains tools
v
Actually, afair VSC depends on a language server used by / in Buildship and iirc there was some Kotlin DSL support added recently to that

I am not sure if I should โ€œforceโ€ myself to learn vim again, the neovim looks kind of promising with language server and so on ๐Ÿ˜›
v
I don't know neovim, but vim can work with language servers too
e
https://github.com/eclipse/buildship/issues/222 seems to indicate that there isn't buildship kts support
๐Ÿ˜… 1
https://github.com/fwcd/kotlin-language-server does work some of the time (in both VS Code and (Neo)Vim) but it isn't as complete or accurate as IntelliJ IDEA
f
Yeah it is sort of same thing (vim or neovim), but seems better support for plugins, not sure yetโ€ฆ I think what I need is just text high lighting and can jump to definition, code completion and so on. Does not really need showing compile errors and I can open a shell to let gradle doing continues build.
e
honestly when working with Kotlin, I either use the Vim emulation in IntelliJ (which works perfectly), or I use Vim without any special Kotlin stuff (if I know the area well enough I don't need any assistance anyway)

I see. Well I was talking about java project actually. Itโ€™s just my build is a kts build ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, cool, then I will give it a try, thank you so much. this sounds promising in many ways, it was not easy to find such info :)
