It seems odd to me that you would apply a platform for it not to apply transitively -- that is generally what they are for. Additionally, I don't think that's your problem here -- this isn't a "failed to resolve conflicting versions" message, this is a "Gradle resolved the version to 
19.6
and can't find it in your repositories" error. So you would need to either add a repository with that, or add a constraint for the specific version that you want separately.

well, i want to manage the versions that my library uses but i don’t want to necessarily enforce ALL versions from that platform. it’s actually not an issue with 19.6 i just truncated the full log, 19.6 itself is perfectly resolvable (and is the version used when i don’t add my library to the consuming project

It doesn't look like spring boot is enforcing it, merely adding it as an option, so you should be able to constrain it to a specific version using 
strictly
, or you could exclude this specific rule. It would be nice to see the full log so I can provide more specific advice.

ahh, so i missed the task that was failing initially. 
./gradlew classes
works just fine, but 
assemble
fails on 
bootJarMainClassName
. So it’s probably something fun and special that boot itself is doing when it encounters a bom (or maybe specifically its own bom??) as a transitive? 😐
yeah, it is deifnitely something with the 
productionRuntimeClasspath
that spring boot creates. 
runtimeClasspath
has the version of 
spring-boot-dependencies
that is applied in the consuming application (
2.7.13
downgraded from 
3.1.5
), but 
productionRuntimeClasspath
has 
3.1.5
.
