What has that to do with 8.3 specifically? Or did you actually mean 8.x?
k
Nothing with 8.3 specifically. I just remember the last time I asked about the support for 6.x and 7.x it was basically a situation where if a release was needed (for a security fix for example), it would still happen, so it was still sort of "supported".
Now that more time has passed, I wondered if there was any update to that.

As I'm not affiliated to Gradle in any way, I of course cannot make a reliable statement. But I'd guess it simply depends on which vulnerability, where it is, and how hard it is to fix. I do not remember having seen any backport guarantees somewhere. But from https://gradle.org/releases/ you can see how it was in the past, so between 8.0.1 and 8.0.2 for example 6.9.4 and 7.6.1 were released
k
True. Both have had releases this year.

There's an unofficial summary on https://endoflife.date/gradle
The support and EOL policy is not clearly defined, but looking at the releases history and Feature Lifecycle page:
• only the latest release is receiving new features,
• after 7, 6 started to receive bug and security fixes,
• before 7, only the latest release were receiving bug and security fixes.
