I'm trying to finish up my taxes with freetaxusa but I am running into an issue
I want to fill out form 8995 to carryover qbi losses from previous years, however ftusa only generates that form if you fill out the schedule c, but I had no income or expenses in the tax year so I left the schedule c mostly blank. Now it does not let me continue unless I delete the schedule c, but that will take the 8995 with it

I had similar problem (with parsonage). The only solution I came up with is putting down a dollar as income (or expense if you had)

I thought about just putting in a dollar income and a offset dollar expense, but didn't want to raise any flags

Me too....
claude claims its common in tax software to force you do to put in a dollar sometimes , If it is right then it should be common and not trigger anything.

Next question is how do I get my money back from freetaxusa for the $8 I spent on support for one issue, and all I got is bunch of bad guesses from them

I ended up filling a $1 schedule c, only for support to respond a few minutes later saying that the entire form 8995 won't be necessary and I can still carryover from previous years without filing it
